Scottish Fudge
Scottish fudge is the soft, smooth, melt-in-the-mouth cousin of Scottish tablet — made from the same handful of ingredients (sugar, butter, condensed milk, patience) but cooked differently to produce that creamy, chewable texture instead of tablet's crumble. Mrs Tilly's has been making fudge by hand in small batches in our Larbert kitchen since 1997, using no artificial flavourings and no shortcuts. Every batch is naturally gluten-free.
Choose from our original fudge gift boxes in 150g and 400g sizes, our Sea Salt Fudge for a contemporary twist, or our Malt Whisky Fudge made with real Scotch. For bigger gatherings or hampers, our 1kg bags deliver enough fudge for a proper sharing occasion.

What Makes Mrs Tilly's Scottish Fudge Different?
Real fudge is more than a recipe — it's a technique. Mrs Tilly's fudge is hand-made in small batches using traditional methods and proper ingredients: sugar, butter, condensed milk, and the long, patient beating stage that gives fudge its signature creamy texture. It's the same approach we've used since 1997, because the recipe hasn't changed and doesn't need to.
That craft is what you taste in the first bite — the slow caramel depth, the buttery finish, the way it gives way on the tongue without ever being sticky or grainy. It's also naturally gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians.
Scottish Fudge FAQ
What is Scottish fudge?
Scottish fudge is a traditional confectionery made from sugar, butter, and condensed milk, boiled and beaten until it sets into a soft, creamy slab. It's similar to American-style fudge but typically richer and made without marshmallow or corn syrup. Mrs Tilly's fudge has been a staple of Scottish gift-giving and afternoon tea since 1997.
What's the difference between Scottish fudge and Scottish tablet?
Fudge is soft, smooth, and chewable. Scottish tablet is firmer, grainier, and dissolves on the tongue. The ingredients are nearly identical — the difference comes down to cooking temperature and the beating stage. Tablet is boiled higher and beaten harder, which creates a crystalline crumble. Fudge is held at a lower temperature and beaten more gently, so it sets soft. We've written about how to make traditional Scottish fudge if you want the full method.
Is Mrs Tilly's Scottish fudge gluten-free?
Yes. All of our Scottish fudge is made from ingredients that are naturally gluten-free, and the packaging carries the Gluten-Free certification. The only allergen in our standard fudge is milk. The Malt Whisky Fudge also contains alcohol — please check the label if you have specific dietary requirements.
How long does Scottish fudge keep?
Stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, Mrs Tilly's fudge stays fresh for several weeks. It also freezes well — wrap individual pieces in baking parchment, store in an airtight container, and thaw at room temperature when you're ready.
Can I send Scottish fudge as a gift?
Yes — fudge gift boxes are one of our most popular gifts. Our 150g gift boxes and 400g gift boxes are designed for gifting, beautifully packaged and ready to send. The 400g gift box even lets you mix any two flavours — original fudge with tablet, sea salt fudge with malt whisky, or two of the same. We offer free UK delivery on orders over £30, and we dispatch same day on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday. Browse the full gift box collection for more options.
Which fudge flavour should I try first?
Start with the Original Scottish Fudge if you've never had Mrs Tilly's before — it's the recipe everything else is built around. From there, the Sea Salt Fudge gives you the same creamy base with a savoury contemporary edge, and the Malt Whisky Fudge brings a properly Scottish warmth that works brilliantly for gifts and after-dinner sharing.
